What to expect from Summer Driver’s Ed at Drive Smart Georgia

Summer is the perfect time for teens to complete Driver’s Ed in Georgia – and it’s also the busiest season of the year at Drive Smart Georgia for good reason. With school out of session, students can focus fully on learning the rules of the road without the stress of homework, exams, sports, or extracurricular activities competing for their attention.

Whether your teen prefers a traditional classroom setting, live Zoom instruction from home, or a flexible self-paced online option, Drive Smart Georgia offers multiple ways to complete the required 30-hour Joshua’s Law course this summer.

Here’s what students and parents can expect from our popular in-person classes, live Zoom classes, and the Aceable online Driver’s Ed course.

In-Person Driver’s Ed Classes

Benefits of in-person driver's ed class

Our traditional in-person Driver’s Ed classes are ideal for students who learn best in a structured classroom environment with face-to-face instruction. Certified instructors guide students through Georgia traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, road signs, and real-world driving scenarios.

Students benefit from:

  • Interactive classroom discussions
  • Hands-on learning activities
  • Group participation and games
  • Opportunities to ask questions in real time
  • Frequent breaks and lunch periods throughout the day

At Drive Smart Georgia, we designed an exclusive high-energy Driver’s Ed program specifically for teenagers. Instead of simply lecturing students all day, our instructors use entertaining and engaging teaching methods that help teens retain information more effectively.

For example, students participate in our popular “drunk goggles” activity to experience firsthand how impaired driving affects coordination and decision-making. We also incorporate games like Jeopardy-style reviews to reinforce important driving concepts in a fun and memorable way.

All course materials are provided. Students should simply bring:

  • Their learner’s permit (if they already have one)
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities
  • A positive attitude and willingness to participate

Arrival & Attendance Expectations

Students should arrive:

  • No earlier than 20 minutes before class
  • No later than 10 minutes before class begins

All classes begin on time. Parents should also plan to pick students up promptly at dismissal time.

Because Georgia DDS regulations require full attendance for Joshua’s Law certification, students cannot miss a day of class unless there is an illness or family emergency requiring a make-up session.

Live Zoom Driver’s Ed Classes from Home

Benefits of Zoom drivers ed classes

For families looking for flexibility while still benefiting from live teacher interaction, our Zoom Driver’s Ed classes are an excellent option.

These live online sessions follow the exact same Joshua’s Law curriculum as our classroom courses, but students can participate from the comfort of home using a desktop, laptop or tablet.

Students can expect:

  • Live instruction from certified teachers
  • Real-time interaction and discussion
  • Visual presentations and engaging activities
  • Breaks and lunch periods throughout the day
  • The same certificate as in-person students

The week before class begins, families receive:

A detailed email with class dates, times, technology recommendations, Zoom login information, password, and a downloadable class packet.

Students should print the class packet before the first Zoom session begins.

Many parents love the convenience of Zoom Driver’s Ed because it eliminates travel time while still giving students the structure and accountability of live instruction.

Aceable Online Driver’s Ed Course

Benefits of self-paced drivers ed course

For busy teens who need maximum flexibility, the Aceable online Driver’s Ed course may be the perfect solution.

Unlike live classes, Aceable allows students to:

  • Learn at their own pace
  • Start and stop anytime
  • Access lessons 24/7
  • Complete coursework from virtually anywhere

The course includes:

  • Interactive videos
  • Animations
  • Quizzes and review sections
  • Mobile-friendly learning
  • Engaging content designed for modern teens

Not all online Driver’s Ed programs are created equal. Many older online courses feel outdated and allow students to rush through material without truly learning it. That’s why Drive Smart Georgia carefully selected Aceable as its preferred online learning partner.

Aceable’s modern platform keeps students engaged while helping them retain critical driving knowledge needed for safe driving and long-term success behind the wheel.

After completing the course and passing the final test, students simply email their completion certificate and learner’s permit to [email protected].

One Course, Multiple Learning Options

No matter which format students choose – classroom, Zoom, or Aceable online – all programs satisfy Georgia Joshua’s Law requirements.

The goal is always the same:

  • Build safe driving habits
  • Develop responsible decision-making skills
  • Increase student confidence behind the wheel
  • Prepare teens for lifelong driving success

Summer gives students the opportunity to complete Driver’s Ed without competing academic pressures, making it one of the best times of the year to start the licensing process.
